PROPERTY LINE STAKING

For situations in which you need to visualize the actual boundary line of your property, disputes with neighbors or when you are building a structure near the edge of your property and can prevent potentially expensive encroachment issues.

WHEN IS PROPERTY LINE STAKING NEEDED?

  • Construction of a structure or perform landscaping near the edge of your property
  • Installing a fence in a portion of your property (local governing authorities may also have stipulations on how close to your property line the fence may sit)
  • Suspect your neighbor is encroaching on your land with landscaping or a structure
  • Determine ownership of a pre-existing object on/near the property line (e.g., a tree)
  • Questions as to the accuracy of property’s legal description during real estate sales
  • If it is otherwise difficult to tell where your property boundaries lie 

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH PROPERTY LINE STAKING

    • Survey crew will arrive at the property to collect data to identify property boundaries
    • Corners will be flagged
    • Re-set any missing pins  
    • Property lines will be marked with wooden stakes and flags ~50 feet apart                                             
  • No drawings or plats are provided as part of this service

 

NOTE: while this survey is somewhat less intrusive than a full boundary survey, the work involved in identifying boundaries is similar to that of more detailed surveys, so the difference in cost is modest at best.
